Omschrijving: CatSpers (cation channel, sperm associated proteins) are ion transport proteins located on the surface of sperm cells in the principal piece of the sperm tail. CatSpers are vital to sperm motility, fertilization and cAMP-mediated calcium influx in sperm. There are four CatSper proteins in mammalian sperm, namely CatSper (or CatSper1), CatSper2, CatSper3 and CatSper4. CatSper proteins contain a single, six-transmembrane-spanning segment and exhibit the voltage-dependent Ca2+ channel four-repeat structure. CatSper proteins are believed to assemble into a heterotetrameric complex, forming an alkalinization-activated Ca2+-selective channel. Mutations in any of the genes encoding CatSper family proteins can result in male infertility. CatSper3 plays an important role in the hyperactivated motility of sperm cells, a process that is required in the preparation of sperm for fertilization.

Omschrijving: Pierce silver stain for mass spectrometry is a complete kit for rapid and ultra-sensitive silver staining of proteins in polyacrylamide gels and efficient destaining of excised gel pieces for mass spectrometry analysis. This kit enables both first-time and experienced users to achieve consistent and reliable staining using high, low, and gradient-percentage gels in 1D and 2D formats. The optimised staining method ensures extremely sensitive staining while minimizsing covalent crosslinking of protein to the gel matrix, which can inhibit protein recovery. The destaining reagents facilitate complete removal of silver from stained protein bands and maximum protein recovery for subsequent mass spectrometry analysis.

Omschrijving: Cenexin1 is an isoform of ODF2, that unlike ODF2 is present in several somatic cell types. Cenexin1 acts as a general scaffold protein that is specifically localised to the distal/subdistal appendages of mother centrioles. Cenexin1 is required for proper localization of Plk1 to the centrosomes. This centrosomal localization of Plk1 is required for proper microtubule function. Cenexin1 recruits Plk1 via a C-terminal extension of cenexin1 that is not present in ODF2. Cenexin1 is required for proper mitotic progression; depletion of Cenexin1 ultimately leads to chromosome missegregation and apoptosis. The ODF2 (outer dense fiber 2) gene encodes both ODF2 and Cenexin1, which have very different functions. ODF2 is a major component of sperm tail outer dense fibers (ODFs). ODFs are filamentous structures located on the outside of the axoneme in the midpiece and principal piece of the mammalian sperm tail. They may help to maintain the passive elastic structures and elastic recoil of the sperm tail, and may also modulate sperm motility.

Omschrijving: BRAND® PCR plates + sealing films – The Real Seal !

Practical PCR packs consisting of 50 pieces each of 96-well PCR plates and 50 matching sealing foils. Sets are available with different PCR plates and fit any common thermal cycler, depending on the package selected. Foils make handling especially easy because their adhesive is only activated by pressure, ensuring they don’t stick to gloves. The combination of matched plates and foils also protects your samples optimally, significantly reducing evaporation loss.

Extremely low evaporation losses! Seal your BRAND® PCR plates with the enclosed sealing film and see for yourself!

Omschrijving: Outer dense fibers are filamentous structures located on the outside of the axoneme in the midpiece and principal piece of the mammalian sperm tail. May help to maintain the passive elastic structures and elastic recoil of the sperm tail.Constituting the main cytoskeletal structure of spermatid flagella, outer dense fibers (ODFs) add elastic recoil, stiffness and protection against shear forces during sperm movement. Human ODFs consist of approximately 10 major and at least 15 minor proteins. The major proteins of the ODF include Odf1, Odf2, and Odf3, which compose a family of proteins that are preferentially expressed during mammalian spermiogenesis. Odf3 (outer dense fiber protein 3), also known as sperm tail protein SHIPPO 1 and TISP50 (transcript induced in spermiogenesis protein 50), is a 254 amino acid protein that is expressed during the latter part of spermatogenesis in flagella of elongated spermatids and mature sperm. Odf proteins are directed to their exact subcellular location by Spags, which are characterized as chaperone-like Odf-binding molecules. There are two isoforms of Odf3 that are produced as a result of alternative splicing events.
