Notably, the rare aging disease Hutchinson-Gilford progeria is associated with the LMNA gene which encodes lamin A. Stickler syndrome, Parkinsons, schizophrenia, familial adenomatous polyposis, Gaucher disease and Usher syndrome are also associated with chromosome 1.
