In dit experiment testen leerlingen op coliformen in gesimuleerd verontreinigd water met behulp van kleurstoffen en fluorescente reagentia. Dezelfde reagentia kunnen worden gebruikt om watermonsters uit de omgeving te testen. Als extra activiteit kan er een Gram-kleuringstest worden uitgevoerd op de verzamelde monsters.
